Inside the Chocolate Factory So Nerdy It's Controlled by an iPhone [Food]

Tcho's high-tech chocolate factory—appropriately, created by founders of Wired magazine—is the very opposite of the bearded, artisanal hipster Willy Wonkas at Mast Bros. in Brooklyn. They even use words like "beta" to describe test batches of chocolate. More »

Usher 'Got A Good Laugh' From Fan Kicking Him In The Face

'It looked worse than it actually was,' the 'OMG' singer laughs about accidental blow during concert serenade.

Usher's club-rattling jam "OMG" may "kill it every night" according to tourmate Miguel, but when the Atlanta crooner hit Madison Square Garden earlier this week, he was almost taken out by a clumsy fan.

When the singer touched down in New York on Monday, he indulged a super amped fan's fantasy by pulling her onstage for an intimate flirty serenade of "Trading Places." As Usher and the concertgoer got cozy on a recliner, she swiveled around to face the crooner — knocking him squarely in his mug with her foot. She began apologizing profusely as Usher briefly paused to collect himself. But the superstar took the strike in stride, quipping, "We play rough in the bed. We kick each other in the face and all type of good stuff."

Although Usher brushed off the blow, the moment did make an impression on him.

"In all my years, this is one of the most interesting experiences. I got a kick out of it!" he told Us Weekly. The singer assured fans that the knock wasn't that bad. "It looked worse than it actually was. My audience and I got a good laugh."

As for the fan, the "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love" star maintained everything is all good on that front too. "Wherever you are baby, don't feel bad," Usher said. "No hard feelings."

As Miguel has noted, Usher isn't one dwell on drama, whether it's cranking out another hit album or weathering an unexpected hit from a fan.

"He's such a tremendous example of perseverance and determination," Miguel recently told MTV News. "I was there throughout this album, so I've seen the adversity that he's had to overcome perception-wise."

What do you think of Usher's response to getting knocked in the head by a fan? Tell us in the comments!

Kindle lands in Mac App Store, iOS app updated

Kindle on the Mac App StoreSignaling what is hopefully the beginning of major adoption of app stores by big-name developers, the Kindle e-book reader is now available from the Mac App Store. It's free to download, and seemingly the same version that you could previously download direct from Amazon.

In other news, the Kindle for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch app has also been updated. It now supports the background downloading of books, on devices with iOS4; and you can finally access public domain books from Project Gutenberg and other similar resources.

With Amazon now on board, a huge question mark still lingers over developers like Adobe and Microsoft. Will we see Office for Mac or Adobe Photoshop in the Mac App Store? Will the 30% revenue cut scare them off? Real-world publishing, with disc pressing, boxing, distribution, advertising and obtaining shelf space costs more than 30%!

Let's not forget Steam, either. Developers and publishers weren't overly comfortable with Valve's digital distribution service, either; but look how it's turned out!

Hacker Shows How Cloud Could Wash Out Wireless Security

German hacker Thomas Roth's announcement that he used Amazon.com's cloud service to crack a wireless network security standard has left some security researchers scratching their heads. Others are merely shaking them in disbelief. That attack was launched against the SHA-1 hash algorithm. Roth's conclusions are that the SHA-1 algorithm is not fit for password hashing.

Ubuntu 11.04 officially switches default media player to Banshee

Among the changes slated for Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal was the replacement of another long-time default application. With recent releases, we've seen Empathy take over instant messaging duties and Shotwell inserted to handle photo management. It's also been discussed for quite some time that Canonical should, perhaps, pull the pin on the Rhythmbox audio player.

That's finally happened, as current builds of Ubuntu 11.04 have finally made the switch to Banshee. If you're not familiar with Banshee, it's a full-featured media player. It supports a number of audio and video formats, can sync with Android and iOS devices, offers built-in MP3 purchases via Amazon and eMusic, and sports Last.fm and Wikipedia integration.

OMG! Ubuntu ran a poll a few months ago, and user preference was pretty evenly divided between Rhythmbox and Banshee, but Canonical's Mark Shuttleworth has previously stated that "Ubuntu is not a Democracy." If they've decided to add Banshee to the mix, it's getting added -- but anyone who might be upset by that probably knows how to quickly remove it and install Rhythmbox via a terminal session anyway.

Buffalo's PC-TV1/HD adapter brings Intel Wireless Display support to Japan

So, you did it. You went out and purchased a WiDi-enabled laptop. Congratulations. Trouble is, you have no way to get those wireless transmissions to your television, and that's where Buffalo comes in. We've already seen a handful of Wireless Display adapters hit the market here in the US, but mama always said that more made things merrier. Buffalo's PC-TV1/HD is fairly simple; just plug it into your television via HDMI or composite video cords, sync it with your WiDi computer, and enjoy the spoils of watching (mostly) lag-free HD content flow from your laptop to your HDTV. Check it this March for ¥12,500 ($150), or just do what everyone else does -- buy a $4 HDMI cable, and swallow the fact that living in the future simply isn't worth going broke over.

Facebook now the most-visited website in the world

Hitwise top websites of 2010You hear that, Mr Google? That is the sound of inevitability.

Hitwise has just released two sets of data for 2010: the top 10 most-searched terms, and the top 10 most-visited websites. Rather unsurprisingly, Facebook is at the top of both charts. It leads the most-visited chart by some way, too: almost 9% of all Internet visits in the U.S. were to Facebook, while Google only accounted for 7.2%.

These stats are made all the more insane when you compare them to Hitwise's 2009 figures. In 2009, Facebook only accounted for 4.3% of Internet visits -- it has more than doubled in size and activity. Google, on the other hand, with 6.7% in 2009 has shown a small amount of growth. Yahoo's homepage has stayed the same in 2010, at 3.3%, but Yahoo Mail has slumped significantly from 4.4 to 3.5%, but still ranks as the third-most visited site in 2010.

Facebook is still some way off Microsoft and Google when you factor in all of their properties (Hotmail, Bing, MSN, YouTube), but as a single website, Facebook is now by far the most visited in the world.
