Usher's protégé, Justin Bieber, scored more hardware than the "OMG" singer on Sunday night (November 21) at the 2010 American Music Awards, but the veteran superstar was far from a step behind the teen sensation.

With his fleet footwork, Usher teamed up with dance-world superstars Swedish House Mafia to ignite the stage with a mash-up of his "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and their "Miami 2 Ibiza" and "One" that certainly qualified as one of the evening's high points. Decked out in black military garb and sporting a starter mohawk, Usher partied and pranced around onstage to his club-happy single.

"I feel like a zombie gone back to life," Usher sang. "Hands up, and suddenly we all got our hands up/ No control of my body/ Ain't I seen you before?/ I think I remember those eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes."

Usher and his gang of dancers showed off moves that would have tripped up teen stars. At one point, his backup dancers launched him into the air and Usher landed and jumped right into his next step.

A full explosion followed behind him and he carried the energy into the hook.

" 'Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us falling in love again," he crooned. "Yeah, baby tonight/ The DJ got us falling in love again/ So dance, dance, like it's the last, last night of your life, life."

After picking up an award earlier in the evening, Usher acknowledged his veteran status. The 32-year-old thanked his supporters, plugged his OMG Tour with Trey Songz and shouted out longtime fans. "I been doing this 18 years," he said.

Intel Oasis: firetrucks, dragons, and trains hands-on

We'd seen Intel Lab's Oasis (Object-Aware Situated Interactive System) project a while back, and sure, while what it's showing off is the same, we love to get up close and personal. Using a Kinect-style camera, the system is able to recognize 3D objects on a surface and then project some nifty graphics to add interactivity. Placing the dragon near the house or train station sees them light on fire, drop a firetruck in and it puts out the fire, add a train then draw a track in front of it by dragging your finger, you get the idea. Intel Labs isn't bringing any of this to market -- at least not yet -- but we're enthused with what we see and look forward to what the folks with the crayons can dream up. Have a peek at the vid and gallery if trains, burning Lego people, fire breathing dragons, and firetrucks are your thing.

VLC for iPhone and iPad get pulled from the App Store

If you happened to head to the App Store this morning to search for, say, a new media player with support for a number of video formats, you may have noticed something: VLC is no longer available. A quick search returns several remote apps, but the recently-released player itself is nowhere to be found -- the VLC app has, in fact, been removed from the App Store.

Ultimately, it appears as though the GPL "licensing incompatibilities" which some people worried about when VLC for iOS debuted are to blame -- but whether it was Apple or Applidium who removed the app is not yet known. The takedown may, however, have more to do with Denis-Courmant's (who happens to work for Nokia) campaign against Apple -- as our friends at TUAW speculate.

Whatever the reason, it's iOS users who lose out in the end.

If You Love Something, Set It Free—Not This Amazing Paper Bird, Though [Design]

You've seen découpage before, but never like this. Cheong-ah Hwan's little paper bird, along with Obi Wan Kenobi, Monkey Magic, and countless other layered-paper creations are so much better than 3DTV. [Bite via Buzzfeed] More »

NSFW ? The Song: No, Seriously This One Really Is Not Safe For Work [NSFW]

Well, this is several types of amazing. Way back in 2009, I received an email from an Argentinan lawyer-turned-singer/songwriter by the name of BluBlú. She's a big TechCrunch fan, she explained, and was considering writing a song based on my Not Safe For Work columns. Would I mind? Of course I wouldn't mind. After all, MG has a song, so why shouldn't I? That said,  I wasn't actually expecting there to ever be a song. I get a lot of crazy emails. Oh me of little faith.

Crapgadget CES, round five: iPhone 4 and iPad wed in unholy KIRF matrimony

Yes, this is what happens when the iPhone 4 and the iPad mingle in the back alleys of Shenzhen and bring mutant KIRF-y children to CES. The EYO T8100 is a dumbphone boasting a (likely resistive) 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen, quad-band GSM radio, dual SIM slots, two megapixel rear camera (with flash), VGA front camera, analog TV tuner, Java support, and WiFi, all wrapped in a silver / black, white, or pink package. Check out the spectacle in the gallery below.

Windows ARMs Itself

Microsoft may have big things in store for the world of tablet computers. However, anyone attending CEO Steve Baller's keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show Wednesday hoping to see a parade of upcoming Windows tablet devices likely left disappointed. Instead, Ballmer focused on Windows, phones and the Xbox 360.
